Today's Profile: lunchboxbrain

lunchboxbrain aka Andrew Gregory lives in Upstate NY, and has been an Emptees member for 5 months. Aside from his family, he loves music and art. Andrew has been in way too many bands and will likely be in a few more before the tinitus and arthritis really kick in. As far as the whole art thing goes, he's been scrawling on paper since elementary school. Over the years he's designed promo posters for bands, logos for backyard bocce leagues and even a few t-shirts. Andrew also got one of them fancy college degrees from The College of Saint Rose in English (can you tell?) but likes to think that he's learned more from his everyday travels than he ever did in a classroom. If you would like to visit his website, simply kick it right here.

Interview

Why did you decide to start designing tees?

lunchboxbrain:I discovered Threadless in June of '06 and that really got me interested in t-shirt design. I love the Threadless community vibe and I figured my work could only improve by submitting designs - so I gave it a shot.

Where do you get your inspiration?

lunchboxbrain:From everywhere - I subscribe to a bunch of t-shirt blogs as well as other design related blogs so I'm constantly checking out other artists' work. I've also found that everyday experiences provide a ton of inspiration. I try to jot down little ideas here and there as they come to me. Sometimes they end up as finished designs, other times, they end up in the garbage can.

How quick of a designer are you?

lunchboxbrain:It depends on the design really. For example, my Ghosties tee design took about an hour because there isn't a whole lot to the design itself. Where as A-OK took a lot longer due to the amount of detail involved.

What is your favorite blog?

lunchboxbrain: For t-shirts it's a time between Hide Your Arms and Cottonable. For general creative matters, Creattica Daily is one of the best out there.

Where do you buy your t-shirts?

lunchboxbrain: Threadless, MySoti, Loiter, Shirt.Woot and many more...

Favorite movie of all time?

lunchboxbrain: Oh man - this is tough. I'm a stay at home and relax kind of guy so I love movies but if you're forcing me to choose I'll have to go with P.C.U. It's got everything - ridiculous plot line, outrageous characters and a cameo by George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. All around thumbs up in my book.
