Why did you decide to start designing tees?
Wes Allen:I never really planned on getting so into the shirt business much less do it for a living. I just kind of fell into it. when I was a senior in high school me and my friend started a clothing company (which was rare at the time) called Castor. we created it mainly for only us to wear, but a lot of people wanted to buy them. so we started selling them. after that, a few local bands wanted to me to design shirts for them, so I did and it just grew from there to bigger and bigger bands.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Wes Allen: Other than the many, MANY designers I look up to.. I find inspiration in movies, mainly sci-fi / horror movies that really make you think. Also classic imagery is very inspiring, such as photos from the 50's.
How quick of a designer are you?
Wes Allen: I would say that I design at fairly average speed. I usually spend a couple of hours on a design, probably no more than that or I get really sick of what I'm looking at.
What is your favorite blog?
Wes Allen: To be honest, I don't really look at many blogs. But i do frequently look at sites like emptees, flickr, and freelance switch.
Where do you buy your t-shirts?
Wes Allen: I'm really boring when it comes to buying shirts, I mainly only wear plain black American Apparel shirts.
Favorite movie of all time?
Wes Allen: It would have to be High Fidelity. I absolutely love John Cusack, he's my favorite actor. I secretly wish I could be as cool as him.
